NREL Robotic Prosthetics Project Demonstrated at the 2023 NIBIB and AIMBE Tour

Varun Nalam, Post-doc, Brendan Driscoll, Ph.D. student, and He (Helen) Huang, Ph.D., Jackson Family Distinguished Professor of the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (NREL)’s, were invited to give an American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) tech demo at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) Discoveries in Technology event on June 27th.

The NIBIB is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and focuses on advancing research, development and translation of technologies in biomedical imaging and bioengineering. They support interdisciplinary research projects that aim to improve healthcare by applying technological innovations to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.

Nalam, Driscoll, and Huang were honored with the opportunity to demonstrate NREL’s exciting research on robotic prosthetics for improved balance and postural stability for United States' congressional staff at this year’s event. The congressional staff attended the event at the invitation of AIMBE. NREL received positive feedback and praise from those who attended for their engaging presentation and impactful research.
