Dr. Helen Huang will serve as the launch director of NC State’s College of Engineering’s Robotics Initiative
Established in 2025, the Robotics Initiative brings together faculty from across NC State to advance interdisciplinary robotics research in rehabilitation, agriculture, manufacturing, and other emerging areas. As launch director, Dr. Huang will lead efforts to foster collaboration across departments and external partners while helping shape the initiative's strategic vision. Key research priorities include human-centered robotics, autonomous systems, human-robot interaction, rehabilitation technologies, advanced manufacturing, and robotics-enabled scientific discovery.
Dr. Huang is internationally recognized for her pioneering research in rehabilitation robotics and human-machine interaction. Her laboratory develops intelligent human-machine systems that restore and enhance mobility for individuals with physical disabilities, with a particular focus on advanced prosthetic technologies that improve function, comfort, and quality of life. Her work closely aligns with the CLEAR's mission to advance innovative rehabilitation technologies that promote independence and participation for people with disabilities.
