Jacque Cole Receives AHA Grant

Dr. Jacque Cole, assistant professor in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering and CLEAR core faculty member, received a two-year Grant-in-Aid award from the American Heart Association (AHA) to look at "Contributions of bone vasculature to stroke-induced bone fragility."

This study will allow us to characterize the structural, material, and functional changes that occur in bone following stroke and elucidate metabolic biomarkers associated with these changes. This knowledge will be essential for elucidating the pathophysiology of bone fragility following stroke and will aid in the development of better therapeutic strategies that target bone maintenance in stroke survivors.
