Saul Elected ASB President
Katherine Saul, an Associate Department Head in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department at NC State University, was just elected to serve as the American Society of Biomechanics' (ASB) next president, and she will take office in August 2025.
In addition to being named the 2024 recipient of the ASB Founder's Award earlier this year, Saul has held the esteemed title of ASB fellow since July 2022. The award was first presented in 2017 and is available to investigators from all disciplines within ASB. According to the ASB website, it is given to recognize "scientific accomplishment in biomechanics and excellence in mentoring." Since 2018, she has held the positions of Meeting Chair, Chair of the Diversity Task Force, and Secretary on the ASB Executive Board.
The goal of Saul’s research in the Movement Biomechanics Laboratory is to improve treatment for upper limb neuromusculoskeletal conditions by providing biomechanical insight to clinicians regarding the effects of neuromuscular and orthopaedic injury and clinical interventions. She is a leader in developing computational models of the upper limb for rehabilitation engineering applications.
